Frequently Asked Questions

Estate images from 1/1/1992 to current date are available online with a paid eSearch subscription or, available in the office, on public terminals. Records can be viewed and/or printed at the users request.
You may contact the Orphans' Court office for an application or go on-line to the Division of Vital Records State of Pennsylvania.
You may contact the Register of Wills Office or obtain them on-line through the Department of Revenue.
If the payment is on a joint bank account, please provide the (two) Information Notice for each account you received from the Department of Revenue. NOTE: The Department of Revenue gives you an opportunity to pay any inheritance tax due at a 5% discount within 3 months from the date of death of the decedent. Please make your check payable to: Register of Wills, Agent.
You can complete the application for the refund of Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax, which can be located under Forms and mail form directly to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

We strongly suggest that a EXECUTOR/ADMINISTRATOR see an attorney BEFORE BEGINNING THE PROBATE LEGAL PROCESS. An attorney is specialized to help with the many responsibilities required of an Estate Administration
