About Us
The Coroner is elected every four (4) years by the voters and is directly responsible to the electorate.
This position must be State Certified by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Coroners Education Board.
Missions
- Investigate sudden, unexplained, violent, or suspicious deaths occurring in the County to determine:
- Cause of death
- Manner of death
- Whether criminal activity was involved
- Provide information regarding findings to the family of the deceased and investigating agencies
- Protect the property of the deceased
- Preserve the confidentiality of all information received

Francis Dutrow, Coroner of Adams County acquired his Board Certification.
Francis Dutrow, D-ABMDI, Adams County Coroner said, “Our office is very proud of this certification as well as our national accreditation and feel the people of Adams County can be assured that our office is committed to conducting an accurate and compassionate investigation in making determinations into the cause and manner of death."
