The Probation Officers who are performing the duties of "intake" are responsible for meeting with pre and post-sentence individuals with the task of completing a risk needs assessment and/or a Pre-Sentence Investigation (PSI). 

Sentenced individuals will be assigned a Probation Officer based on their risk needs score (if applicable) along with other factors, Sentenced individuals who score low on their risk needs assessment are considered to have low risk of reoffending and generally assigned to the Low-Risk caseload. These caseloads have been structured to accommodate a larger number of low-risk individuals with reduced reporting standards.
